Gotland’s foremost vegetable producer chose us on a recommendation

Ryftes Grönsaker pleases connoisseurs all year round. This family-owned company from Fole, in the middle of the island Gotland, delivers tens of thousands of tonnes of seasonal vegetables and edible roots to stores, large-scale kitchens and food-processing companies all over Sweden. Last year, when Ryftes decided to supplement their plant with a new peeling facility, they turned to Lagafors to provide the cleaning system.

An ISO-certified, family-run company
Ryftes grows, packages and markets a wide assortment of vegetables and edible roots. The company is run by the second generation of the Andersson family. Karin is the CEO and her sister Erika is the Sales Manager, although neither of them is afraid to get her hands dirty if needed, just like their parents who are still active in the company.
Ryftes’ own vegetable farm encompasses appr. 180 hectares. On top of that, they purchase newly harvested produce from around 20 farms on Gotland who together cultivate a further 300 hectares. The volumes are enormous, but then again, Ryftes isn’t your run-of-the-mill agricultural company. They have 45 employees and their quality management, environmental management and food safety systems are all ISO-certified.

Investment in a new peeling facility
The fact that such a quality-conscious company as Ryftes would choose to work with Lagafors is especially pleasant. It all began last year when Ryftes decided to invest in a new peeling facility. Karin says:
“Our idea was to sell peeled, washed and packaged edible roots to various types of wholesalers. We did it and so far we can count diners at restaurants, schools and large-scale kitchens among our end customers.”
Lagafors came into the picture when they were procuring a cleaning system for the new facility.
“When we saw their cabinets, we liked what we saw. They seem robust and no-nonsense. Furthermore, Arla here on Gotland recommended them warmly,” says Peter Ahl, Technical Manager at Ryftes.

An honour for Lagafors
Ryftes’ order was followed by manufacturing, delivery and installation of the equipment on-site. The new plant was completed in November and after commissioning, the peeling facility was taken into full production in early 2017. Peter:
“Every aspect of Lagafors’ installation went completely according to plan. Now we are up and running, and so far their products meet our high expectations.”
The question is, would Ryftes recommend Lagafors to other potential customers?
“Without a doubt”, Peter Ahl finishes.
